Parametric Structures - Actuated Structures

The first images show a series of parametric tower and surface structures for which physical prototypes are currently underway within a series of project studies ranging from building elements to object base components. The second set of images show built prototypes of the same structural systems when actuated with thermal memory alloys or pneumatic devices.

We believe that parametric structures and surfaces must ultimately be realized as actuated systems.

These works have been recognized, exhibited and published internationally. Most recently they (with other actuated tensegrity prototypes) have been shown and published in venues such as the Center for Architecture, the Architectural League of New York (Sentient City Open Archive), Mark Magazine No.31 and "Move: Dynamic Building Components in Motion" by Birkhauser Press.

These systems are being used in projects like Prairie House, Northfield Illinois, 2010
